We may soon learn if the Long Mill Dam will be torn down. According to 10 News the City Council may vote on taking down the structure when lawmakers meet on July 5. Vice Mayor Dr. Gary Miller says while the dam is pretty, it’s a public hazard. Removing the dam is estimated to cost between $100,000 and $200,000. The dam was built in the early 1800s and stretches more than 1,000 feet.
