A former court bailiff in the Alleghany Highlands is now behind bars after being arrested on drug charges. According to the Alleghany County Sheriff’s Office, Virginia State Police notified them on Wednesday, that Benjamin Fitzgerald… who worked for the Alleghany County and City of Covington Sheriff’s Office… had been arrested for distribution of a Schedule I or II controlled substance. Fitzgerald had served as a full-time bailiff for less than a year. Upon his arrest, he was immediately fired. Fitzgerald was taken into custody and is being held without bond.
