After a lot of discussion, an apartment project has been approved for Stewart Street in Danville. Earlier this week when they met, the Danville City Council approved a special-use permit for a 162-unit apartment complex at Stewart Street. Under the proposal, the units will be built on Stewart Street behind Townes Funeral Home off West Main Street, and would represent about $20 million in investments area redevelopment. City Councilman James Buckner voted against it, pending the results of a required traffic impact study. About a dozen residents spoke during the public hearing on the project. Most supported the idea.
