(Halifax County, Va.) – A double shooting in Halifax County left one man dead and another wounded.

Sheriff’s deputies and Virginia State Police responded to Sandy Beach Road around 11 p.m. Wednesday and found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.

He was taken to the hospital, where he later died. The victim’s name is being held pending notification of family.

20-year-old Tequan Watson of South Boston was arrested at the scene and charged with first-degree murder and malicious wounding.

A second man shot by Watson was located on Philpott Road. He was taken to Sentara Regional Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Watson is being held in the Blue Ridge Regional Jail without bond.
