DANVILLE, Va. – Utility disconnections that ceased due to the COVID crisis will resume in Danville in a couple on months.

A news release from the City of Danville states that, effective September 1, Danville Utilities will resume disconnections on delinquent accounts.

The city will also resume charging a $50 delinquent account fee for all utility customer classes.

Danville Utilities will mail notices to customers with past due balances of more than 35 days. Any portion of the balance past that is due before September 1 in order to avoid fees and service cutoffs.

Federal funding is still available for those with COVID-19-related income loss.

Customers who are unable to pay their utility bills should contact the Danville Department of Social Services to apply for assistance beginning July 12.
