DANVILLE, Va. – A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect for Danville and most of the region through midnight tonight.

The National Weather Service says we should see a rain and snow mixture here on the Southside starting this morning and continuing into the night. Up to four inches of snow is possible, depending on the temperature.

Blacksburg says the heaviest accumulations are likely here on the Virginia/North Carolina border and in the New River Valley.

Snow showers will move into the Danville area Friday morning, mixing with rain at times and limiting the accumulation.

Danville Public works crews began treating major thoroughfares and bridges Thursday in anticipation of the winter storm.

The forecast calls for a return to sunny skies Saturday and Sunday, with highs around 50.
