There are 684 coronavirus-related deaths in the commonwealth as of Monday, up from 660 Sunday.

The Virginia department of Health reports that 2,700 people have been hospitalized and 122,788 people have been tested for the novel virus.

The VDH lists 19,492 cases of in the commonwealth as of Monday morning. The total number is up from 18,671 reported Sunday, an increase of 821 cases.

Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam announced Monday that he is extending his order closing non-essential businesses for one week, until May 15. The order had been set to expire on Friday, May 8.

Northam has said earlier that he wanted to see a 14-day decline in the number of new cases before allowing non-essential businesses to reopen. That has yet to happen.
