DANVILLE, Va. – A man was pronounced dead at the scene of a Wednesday morning shooting on Summit Road.
Danville Police were called to the 300 block of Summit Road shortly after 6:30 Wednesday morning and found an unresponsive man lying in the roadway. He had suffered gunshot wounds to the chest and emergency personnel pronounced him dead at the scene.
Danville Police cordoned off the intersection of Summit Road and Idlewood Terrace with yellow crime scene tape and are investigating the shooting. A suspect has not been identified.
The victim’s name has not been released. Police have identified the deceased but are notifying family before releasing his name.
