DANVILLE, Va. – The National Weather Service says we can expect a windy, drenching rain over the next 24 hours, with the potential for localized flooding.
A flood watch remains in effect for much of the state, including the Danville area, through noon Friday.
Rain could be moderate to heavy throughout the day and night Thursday, as a slow-moving front works its way through the region. The rain, which is falling on already saturated ground, will likely lead to flash flooding. The downpours will be followed by significant rises on rivers Friday.
The Danville area could see as much as five inches of rain before the system moves out of the region Friday afternoon.
Wind gust of 30 mph are also possible in this storm.
