DANVILLE, Va. – Fire damage was minimal at a Danville cabinet shop, thanks to a passerby who spotted smoke and called 911.
The Danville Fire Department responded to the call at 1603 Halifax Road just after 7:30 Monday morning. Crews spotted light smoke coming from both ends of the roof line. The fire was located near the middle of the building.
A couple of sets of cabinets and a table saw were on fire but firefighters were able to contain the blaze to one area of the shop. Smoke and water damage was minimal and the business was able to open Monday.
The fire marshal investigated and determined that the fire started in some equipment.
Three engines, a ladder truck and 17 firefighters responded and were on the scene for about ninety minutes.
