PITTSYLVANIA COUNTY, VA. – A Danville woman was killed in a single-vehicle accident in Pittsylvania County Sunday night.

54-year-old Lisa Ann Evans was headed west in a 2002 Lincoln Towncar on Waterlocked Road near its intersection with Smith Mountain Road  when the vehicle veered of the road and struck a log.

State Police estimate that the accident happened about 9 p.m. Sunday but the wreck wasn’t discovered until a passerby spotted the car about an hour later and phoned 911.

Evans was taken to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital, where she died a short time later.

State Police say she was not wearing a seatbelt and alcohol may have been a factor in the wreck.
