(Chatham, VA) A judge in Pittsylvania County has sentenced Jason Scott Rigney to Life plus three years in the death of 30-year-old Heather Matherly. The additional three years came as a result of Rigney being charged with use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.
Back in September authorities were called to a Gray’s Park Road home in Brosville where they found Matherly’s body with multiple gunshot wounds. During the investigation documents showed Rigney informed his sister he committed the murder using his father’s pistol.
During the trial prosecutors stated that Matherly has told her husband she was scared of Rigney and that he’d threatened her before. Rigney was found guilty on the charges back in March.
