(Halifax County, Va.) – Investigators believe a hunter found dead in Halifax County died of natural causes.
The body of 22-year-old Samuel Miller was found in the woods Friday evening in what appears to be a death brought on by a medical condition.
Miller went turkey hunting with a friend early Friday. The two split up and agreed to meet later in the day. When Miller failed to show up, his hunting companion sought help. Sheriff’s deputies, state police, firefighters and EMS personnel began a search of the area around Coles Ferry Road. A K-9 team was brought in and a search team found Miller’s body deep in the woods around 6 p.m. Friday.
There were no indications of foul play or an accident and it appears the 22-yeara-old suffered some sort of medical emergency. His body has been taken to the state medical examiner’s office in Roanoke for an autopsy.
Authorities said Miller was a member of the Amish community in Halifax County.
