(Danville, Va.) – 30-year-old John Robert Shore of Danville has been arrested and charged with murder in the January death of his one-year-baby daughter, Oaklyn Leigh “O” Owens.

Police were called to SOVAH Health Danville on January 23 after the child was brought to the emergency room by her father. She was unresponsive and had suffered a head injury.

Oaklyn was taken to Roanoke Carilion Memorial hospital, where she died two days later. The medical examiner ruled that she died of repeated blunt force trauma.

Shore, who lives on Doolittle Street in Danville, was arrested at a Wal-Mart in Stuart, Virginia. He has since been returned to Danville and is being held in the city jail, without bond.
