(Danville, VA) – The Danville Police will soon be employing an additional asset which will allow for more thorough searches in our area.  Several officers with the department are training on a new drone.

“It gives us an extra pair of eyes. You know, when somebody’s loved one goes missing, you’re going to want all you can use, and it’s good to have that,” said Cpl. D.C. Ferguson, from the department.  The drone is equipped with infrared and night vision lenses while also being able to climb to heights of roughly 400 ft, can spot an individual from miles away.

Danville Police purchased the drone back in February and have been training on it weekly with the goal of putting it in service this spring.
