(Danville, Va.) — A Danville man now faces a capital murder charge in the stabbing deaths of an elderly couple.
52-year-old Onis Donnell Moon was originally charged with two counts of first-degree murder in the deaths of 87-year-old Valean Ferrell Barley and 83-year-old Royal Douglas Barley. Both were stabbed to death in their Lexington Avenue home last November. The Barleys’ daughter was also seriously injured, but survived.
He was arrested without incident after police found him walking near the murder scene within minutes of the crimes.
Moon was indicted by a grand jury on a capital murder charge Monday and his trial date is expected to be set on Tuesday.
