(Danville, Va.) — Heavy rains led to minor flooding in Danville Sunday. Water covered Camilla Williams Park and Abreu-Grogan Park along Memorial Drive, but no major problems were associated with the storm. Problems were also reported in Pittsylvania County, where State Line Bridge in the Cascade community was closed due to flooding Sunday.

A Flood Warning continues for the Dan River near Danville until Tuesday morning. At 12 am Monday, the river was 23 feet and falling slowly. Flood stage in Danville is 17 feet. The river will continue to fall to below flood stage by Monday night. This crest compares to a previous crest of 23 feet set on September 18, 2018.

Highs winds resulted in scattered power outages that contributed to a house fire on Hamilton Street Sunday night. Residents left the stove on during a power outage and weren’t home when power was restored. The resulting fire left the kitchen heavily damaged. There were no injuries.
