(Danville, Va.) — A Danville man hopes to collect $100,000 for the Danville-Pittsylvania Cancer Association, while raising awareness about the deadly disease and its toll on families like his. Steve Scott’s mother is a cancer survivor.
He started running about four years ago and now wants to compete in seven marathons, on seven continents, in seven days.
To do that next year, Scott hopes to raise $40,000 in entry fees next month. He plans to run 36 miles from the Sheetz in Greensboro to Danville’s Sheetz on February 2nd in an attempt to raise the $40,000 in entry fees needed to compete in the 7 marathons next year.
His marathon trek will begin in Antarctica and finish in Miami. Scott plans to run 183 miles and spend close to 63 hours on planes between race locations.
