(Martinsville, Va.) — A fugitive from Missouri was arrested over the weekend following a chase through Martinsville.

An officer attempted to stop a Toyota Camry on Sunday because there was no registration on the vehicle. When the officer turned on his blue lights and siren, two passengers jumped from the moving car. The vehicle continued on and police pursued the car for another ten minutes before the driver finally pulled over and surrendered without incident.

43-year-old Melody Jean Smallwood of Greensboro was arrested and charged with felony attempt to elude. She was also charged with driving without an operator’s license, no vehicle insurance, no registration, and with possession of marijuana.

Smallwood is wanted in Missouri for failing to appear in court on a charge of possession of a controlled drug.
