(Danville, Va.) — A power outage affecting about 850 customers in the downtown area was caused by a damaged underground cable at Lynn and Wilson streets. This cable is part of a feeder circuit from the Bridge Street substation. Until permanent repairs can be made, crews will attempt to serve the area from the Riverside substation. The switch will take two hours unless unforeseen circumstances develop.
Some of the streets affected include portions of Main, Patton, Loyal, Wilson, Spring, High, Upper, Poplar, Grove, Green, Pine, Ridge, Jefferson, Floyd, Monument and Chestnut streets. The Charles Harris Financial Services Center is among the buildings without power.
