(Raleigh, N.C.) — A Danville woman died after she was struck on an interstate in Raleigh Wednesday night.
Authorities say 58-year-old Melinda Scott of Danville died after she exited her vehicle on Interstate 540 in Raleigh and was struck by an oncoming car.
Scott pulled over onto the shoulder after her vehicle was sideswiped on I-540. Authorities say Scott ran across three lanes of traffic to talk to another driver involved in the crash, who had pulled onto the median.
When Scott attempted to walk back to her car to call 911 to report the accident, she was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Scott was pronounced dead at the scene.
She was returning to Danville after visiting her daughter when the accident happened.
