
Virginia State Police has corrected a release for a fatal crash that occurred in Pittsylvania County earlier this week. After seeing multiple comments on our Facebook page that information was wrong we reached out to Virginia State Police about the crash.
The crash occurred on Sunday, (Mar 22) at 5:39 pm on Franklin Turnpike, at Beverly Road in Pittsylvania County. A 2007 Toyota Tundra failed to yield the right-of-way while making a left turn and was struck by a 2009 Harley Davidson.
Originally it was reported that the Harley Davidson failed to yield the right-of-way.
The operator of the Harley Davidson was identified as 63-year-old James Dillard Ley, II, of Danville. Ley was wearing a helmet and died enroute to the hospital.
The 17-year-old driver of the Toyota was not injured and was charged with Reckless Driving. The crash remains under investigation.
