The City of Danville is still under a Boil Water Advisory. Danville Utilities Director Jason Gray spoke to River City TV about the situation.

Boiled or bottled water should be used for drinking, beverage and food preparation, and making ice until further notice. Boiling kills bacteria and other organisms in the water.

Gray also says that Danville Utilities has ramped up their efforts to improve water quality as quickly as possible.

The water has to meet two good samples in all pressure zones 24 hours apart before the Virginia Department of Health can lift the advisory. The earliest the advisory could be lifted is sometime on Thursday.

Boiling is the preferred method to ensure that the tap water is safe to drink. Bring all tap water to a rolling boil, let it boil for one minute and let it cool before using, or use bottled water.

Failure to follow this advisory could result in stomach or intestinal illness. The water may be turbid/muddy and at a lower pressure (or no pressure) than normal until the situation is corrected.
