One woman was killed in a car crash in Pittsylvania County on Tuesday. Virginia State Police is investigating the single-vehicle crash that occurred at 9:30 pm on Martinsville Highway, one tenth of a mile east of Pineview Road in Pittsylvania County.

A 2006 Pontiac Vibe was traveling at a high rate of speed, when the vehicle lost control, ran off the left side of the roadway, struck an embankment and overturned; ejecting the driver.

The driver was identified as Brandie Lee Fisk, 33, of Danville. Fisk was not wearing her seatbelt and was injured. She was transported to Sovah Health, Danville where she later died.

The crash remains under investigation.
