(Danville, Va.) — The rains may have stopped, but the flooding continues in Danville.

Water still covers Anglers and Dan Daniel Parks and portions, along with portions of the Riverwalk Trail. All remain closed. Crews will inspect for damage once the waters recede.

One lane of the “S” curves on River Street had to be closed briefly Tuesday after a pump failed and water covered the roadway.

The National Weather Service says it will be tomorrow before the Dan River falls below flood stage in Danville. The Dan River stayed at 22.9 feet for most of Tuesday, and was expected to crest at 23, some two-and-a-half feet below major flood stage.

A state of emergency was declared earlier and should expire Wednesday afternoon.
