Here is the situation report for Danville at 5 pm Monday:

  • The main weather concern now is dangerously cold overnight temperatures, beginning tonight and lasting through much of the week. The current temperature is 31 degrees, with a low tonight of 13 degrees. Increasing winds will push wind chills into the single digits.
  • The Temporary Relief & Counseling Center (TRCC) at 625 Shelton St. is operating a 24-hour warming center for any resident or visitor in need of shelter.
  • The Police Department reports one weather-related accident today.
  • Public Works crews began plowing residential neighborhoods today and will continue working through the night. Sunshine and above-freezing temperatures helped operations, allowing some residential streets to be cleared down to the pavement. The main concern now is overnight temperatures. Crews will plow as long as conditions allow, then switch to spreading sand. Residents and visitors should watch for black ice during the morning travel.
  • Danville Utilities reports one power outage affecting one customer.
  • Danville Transit will begin bus operations at 10 a.m. Tuesday. Fixed route buses will run their normal routes.
  • Danville Regional Airport remains closed.
