There were no injuries during a fire at the Astoria Hotel in Danville on Thursday. The Danville Fire Department responded to the fire at 5:25 am at 3020 Riverside Drive after receiving a report of a fire in room 426.

Once on scene units reported heavy smoke and a working fire order was given. Engine Two made entry and found a fire around a wall heater/air conditioner. The fire was quickly extinguished by fire service personnel.

The room was damaged by fire, smoke, and water. There was no damage to surrounding rooms.

There were two occupants in the room at the time of the fire, but they were notified by a functioning smoke alarm and self-evacuated prior to fire department arrival. There were no injuries reported.

According to the Danville Fire Marshal’s office, the fire was caused by an electrical malfunction in an appliance.
