Danville Public Schools held a ribbon cutting ceremony yesterday for the new Langston Campus. The renovated school will now serve as the home of Galileo Magnet High School and Danville Public Schools central offices.
The renovations at the school include an updated gym, a state of the art media center, a new roof, an HVAC system, a STEM Academy for middle school students and a wall of fame mural to remember the history of the school.
The renovations were made possible by a one percent sales tax referendum that was approved by voters in 2021. The renovations represent a total investment of $50 million. Langston was Danville’s first black high school from 1932 to 1970.
