Last night Danville City Council approved a proposed daycare center. Mikayla Ragsdale is proposing to open a daycare center at 101 Franklin Turnpike Suite D.

The property is approximately 2,000 square feet and would have an occupancy of 48 people. The site is situated in a high-traffic commercial corridor along the four-lane intersection of Franklin Turnpike and North Main Street. Increased traffic during peak hours of drop-off and pick-up is a concern given the multiple egresses within the parking lot and the proximity to the intersection traffic signals.

The site also doesn’t have an enclosed and landscaped green space for children to play. Planning Staff had recommended denial of the special use permit due to the site being in a high traffic corridor and not having a green space.
