Average gas prices across Virginia are down by a nickel this week at $2.86 a gallon, while the average price of gas across the country is down by six cents to $3.00 a gallon, according to AAA.

The average price of gas in Danville is down by two pennies to $2.71, while the average price in Pittsylvania County remained the same for the third week in a row at $2.79 a gallon.

In Martinsville the average price dropped by 16 cents $2.74 a gallon and in Henry County the average price dropped by nine cents this week to $2.72. Prices in Halifax County fell by 13 cents this week to $2.77 a gallon.
