23 fawns were killed by two dogs that broke into the fence at the Ringgold Wildlife Rescue earlier this week. In a Facebook post the owner of the rescue says he went to feed the fawns at 6 am that morning and found the graphic scene with the two dogs still inside of the fence.

The dogs are owned by a neighbor of the rescue. Pittsylvania County Animal Control responded to get the dogs under control and assist with the cleanup.

However, there’s not much more animal control can do currently. The dangerous dog rule in Pittsylvania County only pertains to incidents involving other dogs or cats.

The dogs are back in the owners care and the incident is still under investigation.

Ringgold Wildlife Rescue is asking for donations to help with the damages. The rescue needs to repair the enclosure and plans to put in an electric fence. They are also currently caring for 32 squirrels.

Donations can be sent to 687 Sandy Creek Church Rd Ringgold Va 24586.
