A man who shot a Danville Police Officer earlier this year pleaded guilty on Thursday. 47-year-old Lucas Degier pleaded guilty to charges of attempted murder of a law enforcement officer, malicious wounding, arson, and two counts of use of a firearm in commission of a felony.

The shooting occurred in February in the parking lot of the Courtyard Marriott. Officer Kayla Robinson was interviewing Degier as a suspect in a hit and run. Degier then pulled out a gun and shot Robinson.

Officer Robinson was airlifted to Carilion Hospital in Roanoke for treatment. Degier was flown to Duke University Hospital for treatment of his wounds received in the shooting. Degier will be sentenced next year.
