The Danville School Board has accepted the resignation of member Dr. Keith Silverman, effective June 16, due to health concerns. Silverman was elected to the board in 2022. His term began in January 2023.

“I would like to thank Dr. Silverman for his dedication to our board over the last two years,” Board Chair Ty’Quan Graves said. “He has been a champion for our district and education in Danville. It has been a pleasure working with him, and we are keeping him in our thoughts at this time.”

Following Silverman’s resignation, Danville Public Schools will be accepting applications for an interim board member, who will hold the position until a special election is held.

Applicants must be a qualified voter and bona fide resident of the school division in which the member represents and meet all other criteria set forth by state law. Applicants must prepare and submit four items: a letter expressing their interest, a resume, statement of economic interests, and a certificate of qualification for appointment.

Completed applications may be turned in to Clerk of the School Board Marketa Bass Jones no later than 12 pm on July 7, 2025. To submit materials or ask questions, the Clerk can be reached via email at mbjones@mail.dps.k12.va.us, via phone at (434) 799-6400, or in person at 341 Main Street, Suite 100.

The school board will conduct applicant interviews on July 14 and 15. Application information can be found on the Danville Public Schools website at www.danvillepublicschools.org.
