The Reidsville Police Department is looking for a man who is wanted for two counts of first degree murder. Officers are actively searching for 45-year-old Dexter Lamar Scales for a double homicide that occurred on Thursday.

Officers responded at 11:55 pm to shots fired in the 500 block of Roach Street. When officers arrived, they discovered two gunshot victims and attempted lifesaving care.

42-year-old Samuel Brook and 37-year-old Shanika Penn were both pronounced dead at the scene.

Investigators are asking anyone with information to come forward. They are especially requesting any security camera, doorbell video, or eyewitness information from the area of 500 Roach Street between the hours of 11:00 pm and 12:30 am on the night of June 12.

A $2,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of Scales has been offered in addition to Crime Stoppers of Rockingham County’s maximum reward of $5,000.
