A local K9 is again being celebrated as a hero. According to the Halifax County Sheriff’s Office, K9 Gus helped find a missing person for the second time in a little over a week.

E911 received a call at 5 am on Thursday about a missing 86-year-old male located in the Coleman Road area of Alton. The man has medical issues and was visiting from out of town.

Corporal Garber and K9 Gus started the search, and were able to find the man around 6:15 am, approximately one mile from the residence. Corporal Garber and Gus also found a missing five-year-old boy on April 22.
