The Danville Police Department is investigating a homicide that occurred on Friday afternoon. Officers responded to the 100 block of Pineview Drive at around 4 pm and found the body of a 78-year-old male inside a residence.

Based on information provided to the Department, officers executed a search warrant for a Pineview Drive residence and inside located Arvel Shrewsbury dead.

Investigators located the suspect, Jeanette Perez Staton, 58, at another location in the city. Staton and Shrewsbury reportedly knew each other.

Staton has been charged with second degree murder.
