A man was arrested in Eden after an assault was reported on Sunday. According to the Eden Police Department, officers responded to UNC Health Rockingham at 117 W. Kings Highway in reference to a subject reporting an assault. 

Once officers arrived on scene and spoke with the victim they were able to identify the suspect (James Edward Christley Jr.).  Officers located Christley and placed him in custody without incident.

Christley has been charged with:

• First Degree Kidnapping (Felony)
• Assault by Strangulation (Felony)
• Crime of Domestic Violence (Misd)
• Interfering with Emergency Communication (Misd)
• AID and Abet Underage Purchase of alcohol <21 (Misd)
• Communicating Threats (Misd)

Christley was transported to the Rockingham County Magistrates Office where he was given No Bond. Christley Jr. is set to appear in Wentworth District Court on March, 17th at 9:00am.
