A man is wanted in Henry County on several charges including rape. According to the Henry County Sheriff’s Office, at 9 am on Sunday, deputies responded to the Circle K located at 1560 Virginia Avenue in reference to a female requesting to report a domestic incident.

Upon arrival, deputies made contact with the victim, who reported that on April 4, while at a residence located at 200 Goffin Drive in Henry County, she was assaulted by her boyfriend, Christopher Thomas Shepard, 35, with whom she had been cohabitating for approximately eight months.

The victim reported that Shepard committed multiple acts of violence, including physical assault, strangulation, and non-consensual sexual acts. She further advised that Shepard threatened her life and used a firearm during the incident to intimidate and control her.

Following an investigation, deputies established probable cause and obtained warrants for Christopher Thomas Shepard on the following charges:

• Rape (§18.2-61)
• Object Sexual Penetration (§18.2-67.2)
• Strangulation (§18.2-51.6)
• Abduction (§18.2-47)
• Assault and Battery of a Family or Household Member (§18.2-57.2)
• Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon (§18.2-308.2)
• Use of a Firearm in the Commission of a Felony (§18.2-53.1)

Shepard is also wanted in North Carolina for a probation violation related to a prior felony conviction. He is primarily from Graham, North Carolina, and has limited ties to Henry County.

A search warrant was executed at the residence on Goffin Drive in an attempt to locate Shepard; however, he was not located. He is currently wanted on the above-listed charges and should be considered armed and dangerous.
