Two detention officers in Rockingham County have been suspended after a use of force incident. According to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, on Monday at 9:30 pm, the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility administration and Rockingham County Sheriff Sam Page, were notified of a use of force that had taken place in the Rockingham County Detention Facility.

The inmate was transported to a local hospital to receive medical treatment for non-life-threatening injuries and was later released back to the Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office Detention Facility.

Sheriff Sam Page has requested the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) to conduct an independent investigation into this incident which is standard protocol. The two detention officers involved in this incident have been suspended at this time pending the investigation.
