Some residents in Pittsylvania County have started a petition to remove a member of the Board of Supervisors. Residents in the Staunton River District have announced a petition to remove Staunton River District Supervisor Tim Dudley following his arrest in November.
The petition cites that Dudley failed to comply with the law, therefore he violated the Board of Supervisors Code of Ethics. Dudley was arrested in November after he was caught stealing Kratom from an Altavista convenience store.
Dudley was ordered to pay restitution and must complete a shoplifting class after he pleaded not guilty. He also has been placed under advisement for 12 months.
The Board of Supervisors cannot remove a board member. The petition will need at least 130 signatures to be sent to the courts.
The courts then could remove Dudley. The petition will be at the Staunton River Memorial Library in Altavista on Thursday from 3:30 to 7 pm.
The Pittsylvania County Board of Supervisors will vote on censuring Dudley on Tuesday night. Meaning he would be removed from all Board-appointed boards, committees, and commissions.
