A Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office deputy was injured in a crash on Thursday. The single-vehicle crash occurred at 3:45 pm in the 5700 block of Whitmell School Road.

The crash occurred when the deputy, in an attempt to stop a violator, ran off the roadway and overturned into a field. He was transported by helicopter to Baptist Hospital in NC with non-life threatening injuries.

The crash remains under investigation.
