A Danville woman was rescued by a North Carolina State Trooper over the weekend. On Sunday morning Trooper Underwood was dispatched to the area of Green Tree Road in Caswell County regarding a vehicle in a ditch reported by OnStar.

Upon arriving, Trooper Underwood did not initially locate the vehicle. At 9 am Trooper Underwood found the vehicle off the left shoulder of the roadway, facing south, in a steep ditch near the dead end. The vehicle had traveled approximately 70-75 ft. downhill and was not visible from the highway at all. The vehicle was covered in snow and ice and did not appear to be running.

The Trooper made contact with the 81-year-old woman from Danville. After establishing communication the Trooper learned that the woman had been reported missing the day before by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office.

The woman was then evaluated by emergency responders. She was then transported to be reunited with her family. The woman had been stranded since the previous evening.
