As of 5 pm in Danville: A light to moderate wintry mix fell through much of the day and tapered off late this afternoon. Another round of sleet and freezing rain is expected between 5 and 6 pm, ending later this evening. Since Saturday, Danville has received about 2 to 3 inches of snow and sleet, depending on location.

The Temporary Relief & Counseling Center (TRCC) at 625 Shelton St. is operating a 24-hour warming center for any resident or visitor in need of shelter. The House of Hope at 206 South Ridge St. will provide shelter from 5 pm to 7 am. The City of Danville remains ready to open a shelter if necessary.

The Police Department reports one weather-related accident today. Residents and visitors should not travel unless necessary.

Public Works snowplow crews will make one final pass on major thoroughfares before moving into residential streets around 8 pm. Crews are working 12-hour shifts and have been on main roads since midnight. Primary streets are in fair condition, with salt and sand applied to bridges and overpasses.

Danville Utilities reports three single-customer power outages at this time. Danville Regional Airport is closed.

The Ruby B. Archie Public Library will be closed on Monday. Parks and Recreation programs scheduled for Monday have been canceled.

Danville Transit will not operate on Monday. A decision on Tuesday service will be announced by 4 pm Monday. The James F. Ingram Justice Center (courthouse) and the Danville Commonwealth’s Attorney office will be closed on Monday.
