The latest forecast from the National Weather Service in Blacksburg says that there is a 30% chance of snow after 5 pm on Saturday, then on Saturday night sleet, possibly mixed with snow, becoming all sleet after 2 am. Chance of precipitation is 100% with new snow and sleet accumulation of 2 to 4 inches possible.
On Sunday, sleet before 10 am, then freezing rain and sleet. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.2 of an inch possible and new sleet accumulation of around an inch possible.
For Sunday night, freezing rain mainly before 1 am. Chance of precipitation is 90% and new ice accumulation of 0.1 to 0.3 of an inch possible.
The latest projected totals for the storm say Danville will receive around .33 of an inch of ice and just over 3 inches of snow and sleet. The northern end of Pittsylvania County could receive around 4 to 6 inches of snow and sleet.
