The Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, in coordination with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, has identified the remains of an individual who was previously reported as last seen walking in the area of Climax Road in Pittsylvania County.

The individual has been positively identified as Bobby John Palmer of the Climax Road area of Pittsylvania County. At the time of Palmer’s disappearance in April 2023 he was 44-years-old. Notification of next of kin has been completed.

Based on the investigation conducted by the Pittsylvania County Sheriff’s Office, there is no indication of foul play or self-harm associated with this death. The circumstances surrounding the individual’s disappearance and recovery have been thoroughly reviewed.

The Office of the Chief Medical Examiner has advised that, due to the condition of the remains and available information, the cause and manner of death could not be determined.
