The Henry County Sheriff’s Office is revealing how they recently found a missing child. The missing 8-year-old was found on December 16 in the Serenity Drive area of Henry County, thanks to the coordinated efforts of deputies and the effective use of specialized tracking equipment and an aerial search drone.

After receiving a report of the missing child, deputies immediately responded and began search operations. Because the child was enrolled in the Project Lifesaver program, deputies were able to deploy Project Lifesaver equipment without delay.

Deputies arrived on scene and began operating Project Lifesaver equipment, they detected a faint signal indicating the transmitter was a long distance away from his location.

Deputies then deployed a drone and began checking the surrounding area. They observed possible movement within a wooded area, which allowed deputies to narrow their search focus.

The child was then found in a low lying wooded area. The child was discovered more than one half mile from the original response location and was found safe and unharmed prior to nightfall, preventing further risk as temperatures were dropping.
