(Pittsylvania County, VA) – Investigators with the Virginia State Police are looking into a two vehicle crash that occured late Sunday night in Pittsylvania County.  A 2012 Dodge Caravan was traveling east on Callands Road when the vehicle crossed the center line and struck a 2026 Kenworth T680 head on.

The driver of the Dodge has been identified as Junior Anthony Mercado, 44 of Durham North Carolina. Mercado was wearing his seatbelt and died at the scene.

The Kenworth’s drive was unharmed. The crash remains under investigation.
