(Henry County, VA) – The Virginia State Police have issued a statement regarding social media posts about a death investigation in Henry County.

Posts online that suggested that a death investigation that began on Sunday involved a murder/suicide are incorrect.

VSP are investigating a single unattended death involving one of their troopers that was assigned to Henry County. A thorough investigation is underway and remains have been sent to the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner, Western District, for examination.

Typically details of unattended deaths aren’t released but due to the circumstances the Virginia State Police are providing clarification due to public speculation.

No foul play is suspected at this point and no other individuals were involved.
