On Tuesday the Blood Connection held a grand opening ceremony for the new Danville Community Blood Center. After assuming operations of the Sovah Health Blood Donor Center earlier this fall, TBC is expanding access to lifesaving blood donations and strengthening support for patients at Sovah Health – Danville.

The permanent center, located at 159 Executive Drive, Suite K, Danville, VA 24541 marks TBC’s first fixed-site donor center in Southside Virginia and increases the community’s access to a safe, reliable local blood supply. With the opening of this new location, residents can now have a dedicated space to give whole blood, platelets and other lifesaving components, along with ongoing mobile blood drives throughout the region.

The blood collected in Danville will help support surgeries, cancer treatments, childbirth-related emergencies and other essential patient needs at Sovah Health – Danville, reinforcing a strong, community-based blood supply. By expanding donation opportunities close to home, TBC and Sovah Health – Danville are helping ensure lifesaving blood products are available when patients need them most.
