
A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect across the region until 1 pm for the southside. Not much snow has fallen so far and road conditions in the City of Danville are mostly clear and just wet as of 7:30 am.
Reports from Pittsylvania County indicate that more snow has fallen there and road conditions could be worse.
Still use caution when traveling as slippery road conditions are expected that could impact the Friday morning and evening commutes.
Danville Public Works Department crews pretreated major streets, bridges, and overpasses yesterday in advance of the snow.
When snow accumulations reach more than 1 inch, Public Works crews will begin a round-the-clock snow removal operation, beginning with the highest traffic volume streets.
Danville Utilities crews will be on standby.
Danville Public Schools has postponed the ribbon cutting for the renovations at the Langston Campus to December 15th and Parks and Recreation has canceled the Luminaria Trail Walk that was scheduled for Friday due to the forecast, Christmas on the Plaza in downtown Danville has also been canceled for tonight.. The courthouse will also be closed today.
